ADHD in Entertainment

entertainmentFamous people who have ADHD. Any TV, movie, or music that I have resonated with throughout my life, that I feel like describes some of my experiences.

  • Song (YouTube): Broods – Peach: To me, this song describes a lot of the ups and downs Ive experienced throughout my life. The intense joy at happy moments, and the intensely painful emotional lows
  • Song (YouTube): Dinosaur Jr – Feel the Pain: Same as the song above (Peach) 😛 The empathy towards others and their suffering, and then the numbness when all of those sorts of feelings disappear or get replaced by fear, anger etc.
  • Song (YouTube): Crash Test Dummies – Swimming In Your Ocean: They describe being thoroughly engrossed in a situation, but then a left field thought enters your mind, that you just cant shake
  • Song (YouTube): Caligula – Tears of a Clown: This is about hiding your pain behind smiles and cheer. Something I think most people can appreciate, but is a common “masking” trait of people with ADHD
  • Song (YouTube): The Panics – Don’t Fight It: I remind myself of this songs words often, especially when I feel panicked when uncomfortable thoughts enter my mind. Often its the fear of something different, the unknown, that makes us pull back. This is to remind me that I should explore new ways of thinking that are less dominating and oppressive, that might lead to a more peaceful mind.
